Miami French Courses

If you want to learn French in Miami you have a number of options: self-study, a group course at your local college, a trip to a language school in a French-speaking country, or best of all, private classes.

Why are Private French classes the best?

No wasted travel time for YOU: With private classes, you can arrange for the teacher to come to your home or office anywhere in Miami so you don't waste any time traveling. The teacher travels to you!

Go at YOUR own pace: You can go at your own pace, not too fast or too slow as is likely to be the case in a group, where you can often feel left behind or feel that you already know everything the class is covering.

Focus on YOUR needs: the teacher can focus on exactly what you need to work on. If you have trouble with pronunciation, the teacher can spend more time on that, if grammar or confidence (fluency) is your problem, she can work with you on that. If you need to cover business French or are learning so you can understand your spouse's in-laws, she can focus on theparticular language of that subject.

Flexibility for YOU: You can also have the class whenever you want, the teacher will come when you want the class! Morning, afternoon, evening, even on a weekend - if that is when you want to study, that is what you can do with private classes. If you need to travel or have an urgent doctor's appointment or business meeting on the day when you normally take your class, you can let your teacher know and rearrange that class without losing your money.

So who can arrange these private French courses?

At Language Museum, we recommend Language Trainers, a language course provider with headquarters in New Jersey which uses locally based teachers.

For courses in Miami they use teachers who live in Miami. They offer courses in just about any language in any location throughout the USA or Canada. Even if you don't live in a major city, Language Trainers can usually find a solution for you.

You can call them tollfree right now on 1-866-85-LINGO to discuss your needs.

For more about Language Trainers, see their site on

What types of private course are there?

Language Trainers offer courses in both General French and Business French and these are available for one-to-one, two-to-one or small private groups, up to 12 in a class. Note that for two-to-one or group classes, it is up to you to arrange the group. You find the people - your friends, family, colleagues - and arrange a location in Miami and Language Trainers will arrange the French teacher and course materials for you.

Courses are usually for 20, 30, 50 or 100 hours with each session usually lasting 2 hours (although 1 hour and 1.5 hour classes are available).

How much do their French courses cost?

It depends on the language. For more common languages like Spanish, German, Italian, French and English (for foreigners), hourly rates start at $50 per hour (that's $100 for a 2 hour session) and this includes the first course book for each participant.

The teacher's travel time and expenses are already included and there is no sales tax to pay.

Who are their teachers and what course books do they use?

All the French teachers that Language Trainers use are locally-based, native French speakers, qualified, experienced French teachers. They all have a teaching qualification and/or a university qualification in languages. Where a native speaker is not available, Language Trainers will arrange a non-native teacher who speaks French just as well as a native teacher.

Part of your first class will be a full Initial Assessment to find out exactly what you know and what you don't, exactly what you need and how you like to study. You will set realistic goals for the course and after this first class, the teacher will buy a suitable course book (included in the price). Therefore, the choice of book depends on you - what you already know and what you need to know.

How do I contact them?

About Miami...

Miami is a major city in southeastern Florida, in the United States. Miami is situated on northern Biscayne Bay between the Everglades and the Atlantic Ocean. By means of population, Miami is the largest in the South Florida metropolitan and the sixth largest metropolitan area in the United States. However, based on city limits, it is the second-largest city in Florida next to Jacksonville.

With a voting population of just over 300 Miami was incorporated as a city on July 28, 1896. According to the U.S. Census Bureau estimate of the population of Miami in 2006 was 391,355.

In recent years Miami has explosive population growth. This has been driven by internal migration from other parts of the country as well as by immigration. Greater Miami is regarded as a cultural melting pot, heavily influenced both by its large population of ethnic Latin Americans and Caribbean islanders.

It is sometimes called "The Gateway of the Americas." Because of its importance, as an international financial and cultural center has elevated Miami to the status of world city and its cultural and linguistic ties to North, South, and Central America, and the Caribbean. The largest Spanish-speaking population of Florida and strong economic ties to Latin America also make Miami an important center of the Hispanic world. Almost all major foreign countries today maintain consulates in Miami.
