{"id":365,"date":"2009-08-31T19:25:06","date_gmt":"2009-08-31T19:25:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.language-museum.com\/blog\/?p=365"},"modified":"2009-09-06T21:33:02","modified_gmt":"2009-09-06T21:33:02","slug":"scots-atms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.language-museum.com\/blog\/2009\/08\/31\/scots-atms\/","title":{"rendered":"Scots ATMs?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following the somewhat <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesonline.co.uk\/tol\/money\/consumer_affairs\/article6808494.ece\">mixed reaction<\/a> to the introduction of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.language-museum.com\/blog\/2009\/08\/25\/give-this-a-butchers\/ \">Cockney cash machines<\/a> in London, the company behind the idea is now thinking of expanding.<\/p>\n<p>Bank Machine is apparently thinking of putting 250 cash machines in Glasgow and Edinburgh, with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scotslanguage.com\/ \">Scots<\/a> as a language option. Instead of money, users would be offered \u201cbawbees\u201d and a mini statement would become a \u201cwee statement\u201d. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Dr Christine Robinson, director of the Scottish Language Dictionaries in Edinburgh, said: \u201cWe\u2019d be delighted to see it happen and would be happy to help with the translations.
