Meta Tag Generator (FREEWARE)
The Meta Tag Generator (MTG) can automatically generate the meta tags for your homepage, in order to enable the search engines to index your website in proper category, and enable the web browsers to display your website in correct language.
MTG is designed especially for webmasters who are familiar with meta tags, search engines, web browsers, etc. This illustrated webpage quickly teaches you how to use MTG.
General Tags
The default charset (character set) of MTG is Western (ISO), which includes most Western languages, such as English and French. You can specify a new charset for your website by selecting [Charset] listbox, for example, Cyrillic (ISO), which includes most Cyrillic languages, such as Russian and Ukrainian.
Enter the title of your website in [Title] textbox, for example, Language Museum.
Enter the description of your website in [Description] textbox, for example, The samples of 2000 languages in the world.
Enter the comma-separated keywords of your website in [Keyword] textbox, for example, language, museum, sample.
Advanced Tags (Optional)
The default language of MTG is English. You can specify a new language for your website by selecting [Language] listbox, for example, Russian.
Specify a robot command. [Yes] means that the search engines will index all linked webpages of your website, [No] will not.
Specify a cache command. [Yes] means that all visited webpages will be saved in cache, [No] will not.
Enter a delay in seconds and a redirecting URL respectively in [Refresh/Delay] and [Refresh/URL] textboxes, for example, 30 and http://www.sun.com, it means that the visitors to your website will be automatically redirected to http://www.sun.com after 30 seconds.
Enter a value and a GMT date-time respectively in [Cookie/Value] and [Cookie/DateTime] textboxes, for example, vip and Tue, 31 Dec 2002 23:59:59, it means that your website will save a cookie in visitor's hard disk, the cookie's value is vip, and the cookie will expire at Tue, 31 Dec 2002 23:59:59 GMT.
Enter a GMT data-time in [Expiry] textbox, for example, Tue, 31 Dec 2002 23:59:59, it means your website will expire at Tue, 31 Dec 2002 23:59:59 GMT.
Customized Tags (Optional)
You can specify at most 8 customized meta tags by entering the names and the contents of these meta tags respectively in [Name] and [Content] textboxes, for example, Author and Zhang Hong.
Meta Tags
Click on [Generate] button to generate the meta tags, which will be displayed in [Meta Tags] textarea and copied to the system clipboard. You can paste these meta tags between <head> and </head> tags of your homepage, usually INDEX.HTM or INDEX.HTML.
Click on [Help] button to display the help information which you are reading now.
Click on [Quit] button to terminate MTG. The meta tags in [Meta Tags] textbox will be saved to the disk file METATAGS.TXT.
Troubleshooting
MTG works under Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003. If MTG can't work on your computer, please manually copy the system file MSVBVM60.DLL (1.32MB) from the system folder of another computer, by using a floppy disk, to the system folder of your computer. The system folder usually is C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM (95/98/ME) or C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 (NT/2000/XP/2003).
